At Magna, our vision is to create great homes together. We have ambitious plans, and are seeking creative, aspirational, and talented people to join our fast paced, adaptable, and highly collaborative environment.
The role and what you take care of:
Are you an experienced health and safety professional looking for a role where you can make a real difference? At Magna, we are searching for a dedicated Health and Safety Lead who will bring confidence, care and practical expertise to help us create safe and supportive places to work. You will provide clear direction, trusted advice and strong assurance across Magna’s operations and workplaces, while supporting colleagues to understand their responsibilities, manage risk and adopt best practice. This is a chance to play a significant part in shaping a positive, proactive health and safety culture, central to championing our Magna values and working collaboratively with colleagues, customers and partners as we create great homes together.
Lead on occupational health and safety across Magna by providing competent, up-to-date advice and guidance, interpreting legislation and good practice, and helping colleagues understand what safe, proportionate and effective working looks like in their day-to-day roles.
Develop, implement and maintain practical occupational health and safety management arrangements, including risk assessments, RAMS, procedures, records and controls that support safe working practices across Magna’s operations and workplaces.
Work closely with managers, the People Experience Manager and Health and Safety Coordinator to coach, support and influence managers and their teams, providing clear tools, training, briefings and escalation routes that build confidence, accountability and a strong health and safety culture.
Plan and deliver health and safety audits, workplace inspections and incident investigations, including RIDDOR where relevant, ensuring root causes are understood, corrective actions are completed and lessons learned are shared.
Use health and safety data, trends and assurance activity to identify risks, priorities and opportunities for improvement, supporting effective reporting, action tracking and delivery of agreed improvements through the Operational Safety Group and wider business.
What you need to be successful:
Bring excellent working knowledge of UK health and safety legislation, with the confidence to interpret requirements proportionately and apply them in a practical, operational environment.
Translate health and safety requirements into clear procedures, guidance, training, awareness sessions and safe systems of work that colleagues and managers can understand and use.
Coach, influence and build positive working relationships with managers and colleagues, supporting them to take ownership, improve safety performance and create a proactive health and safety culture.
Use experience of health and safety management systems, risk assessments, RAMS, assurance programmes, accident and incident investigation, and root cause analysis to support safe working practices.
Apply strong organisation, communication, analytical skills and attention to detail to review performance information, identify improvement opportunities and travel between Magna workplaces and operational sites when needed.
You will need to hold a NEBOSH National General Certificate or equivalent health and safety qualification. Equivalent combinations of qualifications, experience and demonstrable competence will be considered.
Applicants with transferable qualities are encouraged to apply. Our full range of benefit details can be viewed on our website under each vacancy.
